Fiji Youth Initiative Inc (FYI) was launched on the first Fiji Youth Day, in October 2005. Fiji Youth Initiative has since become the key representative of the youth in the Pacific Community in New South Wales.
OUR VISION
The Fiji Young People living of NSW, Australia are empowered, living successful lives and expressing themselves through their culture, education and creative pathways. This will ultimately be reflective upon their interaction and involvement as active citizens in their daily lives – through social, political and work environments.
OUR MISSION
To promote health, well being and social justice through culture, creative arts, sports and education to young people of Fiji heritage. Fiji Youth Initiative encourages the importance of family, community and being safe, to acknowledge, nurture and award achievements in academics, arts and sports by promoting a positive self image for young people to ‘dream, believe and achieve’.
What areas do we cover?
Fiji Youth Initiative organises cultural events and workshops for young people from across New South Wales, in particular Western Sydney where a large number of the demographic are of Pacific diaspora. In saying that, our aim is to always include young people from our rich culturally diverse population.
